AI models

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Mistral, DeepSeek and more in one place. What each model can do, what it costs, where it is strong and where it falls short. I check the data directly with the vendors and keep it up to date.

Best AI for…

Best AI for coding in 2026Claude models lead the coding tests that vendors have published right now. Anthropic reports 70.6% on Terminal-Bench 4.0 for Sonnet 5.5, which costs $2 / $10 per million tokens. For less money, look at GPT-6.1 Sol or DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. If your code must stay in the EU, pick Mistral Medium 3.5. Best free AI in 2026: what you get without payingMistral Vibe gives you a strong model for free that the company names outright (Medium 3.5) and keeps data in the EU. ChatGPT Free has no fixed cap on everyday text chats, and Gemini adds Deep Research and image creation. DeepSeek is entirely free, but stores everything in China. Cheapest AI API in 2026: price and qualityClaude Haiku 5.5 offers the best value: $0.10 per million input and $0.50 per million output tokens, and first place in its class on the Artificial Analysis index. For a similar price with data in the EU, use GLM-5.3-Flash through Mistral or Qwen3.8-Flash in Frankfurt. Best open AI models to run on your own server in 2026Qwen3.8-27B gives you the most quality on modest hardware: 52 points on the Artificial Analysis index and an Apache 2.0 license. Muse Glimmer 30B and Gemma 4 31B also fit on a single graphics card. The strongest open model, Kimi K3, needs a data centre, and under its license EU companies may not run Llama 4 themselves. AI with EU data: which models suit companies under GDPROnly Europe's Mistral keeps data in the EU by default. Google and OpenAI offer an EU region for companies, and Alibaba does for Qwen3.8-Flash. The direct Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Kimi APIs do not guarantee EU processing, and Meta doesn’t mention any. The safest option is an open model on your own server.
